The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Updates

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Social Media Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.

The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.

The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Modifications

Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
